Can a single Airtable base sync with multiple Jira projects?

Yes, with one flow per Jira project. A Jira flow syncs a single project by default; syncing several Jira projects in one flow isn’t self-serve and needs Unito sales to enable it. Rules can also limit which records sync, by tag, assignee or status.

Does Unito handle Airtable's single-select and multi-select fields with Jira's picklists?

Yes. Both single-select and multi-select fields map to Jira picklists, labels, or custom fields. Map values one-to-one or use transformers to convert when the option lists differ.

Is the Airtable-Jira sync truly bidirectional, or one-way automation?

Bidirectional. Airtable fields like attachments, checkboxes and currency, and Jira summary, status, assignee and priority, sync two-way. Flow direction (which tool creates items) and field direction are set separately, so a one-way flow can still sync field updates both ways.

Do custom fields map between Airtable and Jira, and in which direction?

Yes, by field type. Airtable fields such as checkbox, currency and barcode sync two-way, and Unito supports Jira custom field types like date pickers, select lists and user pickers. Each mapping is set one-way or two-way, though some fields are forced one-way by tool limits.

What access or admin rights does setup need, and does it require a developer or API work?

No developer or API work: setup is point-and-click. Connecting Jira takes administrator permissions on the Jira account; once it’s connected, project-level admin rights are enough to build each flow.

Do comments and attachments carry across between Airtable and Jira?

Yes. Attachments and comments sync between Airtable records and Jira work items. For most connectors, comment sync adds new comments only, not edits to earlier ones. Synced comments post under the flow builder’s account by default, with the original commenter’s name shown in the comment.

Does this work with self-hosted Jira (Jira Data Center), or only Jira Cloud?

Yes, both. Airtable can sync with Jira Cloud or self-hosted Jira Server and Data Center. A self-hosted instance must be reachable over HTTPS (firewall port, reverse proxy or on-premise agent). It’s a premium integration, only on Enterprise plans; Basic and Pro customers contact Unito.
