How do I set up the Asana + Smartsheet integration?

Is this true bidirectional sync or one-way automation?

True bidirectional sync. Asana task name, description, status and assignee sync two-way with Smartsheet primary and custom columns. Flow direction and per-field direction are set separately, so even a one-way flow can update fields both ways.

Do custom fields map between the two tools, and in which direction?

Yes. Asana Date, Multi-select, Number, People and Single-select custom fields map to Smartsheet custom columns by matching type, and most can fall back to a text field. Each mapping is set one-way or two-way; a few stay one-way where the other tool has no equivalent.

Can I sync only some Asana tasks or Smartsheet rows rather than everything?

Yes. Rules limit the flow to items matching specific tags, assignees or statuses, and an item syncs only when it meets every condition on the rule. Rules can also trigger actions, such as auto-assigning a synced task to a set person.

Does setting up the Asana + Smartsheet sync require a developer or API work?

No. Unito is a no-code, point-and-click setup, and Unito states a flow can be built in minutes with no coding knowledge required.

Can I use the sync for migrating from Smartsheet to Asana (or vice versa)?

By default a flow syncs only items created after you build it. Historical sync, included on Unito Enterprise plans, can backfill existing records for a phased migration. It is not a one-time migration tool; two-way sync keeps Asana and Smartsheet current during the transition.

Are parent-child relationships preserved between Asana and Smartsheet?

Yes. Asana’s Parent field and the Parent field on Smartsheet rows both sync two-way, so a task’s place in its hierarchy carries across. Dependencies sync on both sides too.
