Hand engineering work from monday.com to Jira

Business teams scope engineering work on monday.com boards — bug reports, integration requests, campaign-driven dev work, internal tools. Engineering picks it up as Jira issues with the right project, epic, and sprint. Unito makes the handoff automatic and keeps both sides in sync as work ships.

Turn monday.com items into Jira issues automatically

A monday.com item scoped for engineering creates a matching Jira issue. Status, assignee, sprint, and story points sync both ways.

Route monday.com boards to the right Jira project

Each monday.com board can sync to a specific Jira project or board. Marketing campaigns, ops projects, and exec programs each route to the engineering team that owns the work.

Give business teams real progress without Jira seats

Once handed off, status, completion, and at-risk flags stay current in monday.com. Leadership and ops see Jira reality without ever opening Jira.

Frequently asked questions about Jira and monday.com

How do I set up the Jira + monday.com integration?

Unito connects Jira and monday.com with a no-code flow that keeps Jira work items and monday.com tasks in bidirectional sync. For the full walkthrough, see our Jira + monday.com integration setup guide.

Is there a native Jira-monday.com integration, and what does it not cover?

Yes. monday.com builds two-way sync apps for Jira Cloud (in beta) and Jira Data Center, on paid plans, with one field mapping for both directions. The Cloud app skips comments, deletions and subtask-to-subitem links. Unito syncs comments and sets direction per field.

Does this work with self-hosted Jira (Jira Data Center), or only Jira Cloud?

Both work. Alongside Jira Cloud, Unito syncs monday.com with Jira Server and Data Center, as long as the instance is reachable over HTTPS (open a firewall port, use a reverse proxy, or run an on-premise agent). Self-hosted Jira is on Enterprise plans; Basic and Pro customers contact Unito.

Does Unito support multiple Jira projects rolling up to one monday.com board?

Yes. Run a flow per Jira project into the same monday.com board, with rules routing items into different groups by project, team, or epic.

Is this true bidirectional sync or one-way automation?

Bidirectional. Jira summary, status, assignee and priority, and monday.com name, label and checkbox fields, sync two-way. Flow direction and per-field direction are set separately, so a one-way flow can still update fields both ways. Speed depends on your plan and webhook support.

Do custom fields map between Jira and monday.com, and in which direction?

Yes. Unito maps Jira custom fields such as text, select lists, checkboxes, dates, numbers, URLs and user pickers by type, and most types can fall back to a text field. Each mapping is set one-way or two-way on its own; a field with no equivalent on the other side stays one-way.

What access or admin rights does setup need, and does it require a developer or API work?

Connecting Jira takes administrator permissions on the Jira account; after that, project-level admin rights are enough to build each flow. No developer or API work is needed: setup is no-code and point-and-click.

Do comments and attachments carry across between Jira and monday.com?

Yes. Comments and attachments sync both ways between Jira work items and monday.com tasks. For most connectors only new comments sync, not edits. Synced comments post under the flow builder’s account by default, with the original commenter’s name shown in the comment.
